Lesson one is all about observation. Below, you will find several examples of drawings and images that explore shapes in nature. Practice drawing the outside contours (edges) of natural shapes by looking at a plant. You may also wish to explore some of the interior lines which are formed by veins, shadows, and textures. LOOK AT AN OBJECT AND STUDY IT CAREFULLY. THEN MAKE AN OBSERVATIONAL DRAWING USING PENCIL AND PAPER TO RECORD THE EDGES WHICH ARE CALLED EXTERIOR CONTOUR LINES. NEXT, TRY ADDING THE INTERIOR LINES WHICH YOU OBSERVE WITHIN THESE BOUNDARIES.
